January 30, 2018 at 20:24 #2177Hi,
I’m Edoardo Bartoletti, a master student in Strategy and Management at the University of Pisa. I just came back in Italy, around a month ago, from my Erasmus experience in Norway. It has been really cool and cold!
I red the article about social gaps in American society.
Regarding color of skin and female presence inside the boards of important societies, we should look towards an evolutionary thinking in which biases are no more allowed. We are in the twenty-one century and a civilize nation like US should be based on equality and meritocracy.
What about the social impact of technologies? As we all know, high tech companies are focused in market wars between their competitors trying to reach sustainable advantages. Each firm, every year, invests huge amount of capital in human resources and R&D. Infact, just few people have the right knowledge and skills necessary to work in competitive innovative markets. This is due to excessive costs for education.
A solution to the problem is given by State aids. It’s growing the demand towards “special loans and aids” useful to attend important colleges (universities) and to reach an higher education.
In addition to that, companies should reverse the way in which they operate. For example, investing and sharing their knowledge to the society through training paths. This “open source” process will lead, also, to a faster development of innovation with consequently positive effects on companies’costs.

March 6, 2018 at 17:46 #2321Hi!
My name is Andrea Munafò. I am in the master degree course “Strategy, management & control” at the Università di Pisa. Since I started the university some years ago, I partecipated to international projects. During last year, I was part of E-Team Squadra Corse Pisa, the racing project of this University to partecipate to Formula Student competition. As Edoardo said, in our century should not be any place for biases thought. For example, in some East-Europe State, many bank board are full of women, because they have lower tendency to risk. This is almost impossible in Italy instead, where many people base their vision of females just on biases.
People are basically the same, regardless of their skin, but someones are better for some work and others not. This difference exist, of course, and is not due just to the education. Regarding to the education, quite often people think that those graduated in high-costs schools are better educated. So, when two people are looking for job, some enterpreneurs tend to refuse the public and low-cost schools graduated just for a bias.
It is the time to go beyond this thought. A solution can be the education of managers to inclusive behaviour towards “low-opportunity youth”, in the aim of eliminate gender, skin and school discriminations. The commitment that many companies are putting in this area is laudable and I hope that many other companies, even smaller, will follow their example. Another step is possible if the State enhance their support to students through “State loan” or “loan of honor”.
The futuristic vision of american cities supporting low-income families is an important step to allow more people to access human knowledge and technologies, but it can not be considerd the end. To reduce discriminations and biases, educating and training people is foundamental, so also schools and training program could be improved and extended by the State and the companies.

March 14, 2018 at 19:58 #2329Hi Guys! Nice to hear from you and thanks for the feedbacks about the previous article.
Here I have an interesting topic for you: https://www.tpi.it/2018/03/13/casa-texas-costruita-stampante-3d-24-ore/
Unfortunately the article is in italian, but I have some questions:
First of all, what do you think about it, and the application of this project? Can you see it also with other, different application?
Moreover I would like to introduce the topic of 3D printing, what do you know about it? Let’s show us something interesting and don’t forget to enrich you comments with articles or video.
March 18, 2018 at 13:40 #2337Hi everyone ,
My name is Helen , I am a Master of science in Economics student at University of Pisa. I find the above articles very relevant with the current status quo. As a woman, the diversity in the work culture is something which excites me and helps me to bring the best in me. The general taboo of ‘House wife” and “home maker” is something the modern society has evolved and overcome. But the recent incidents which came into limelight like the hashtag campaign #metoo depicting the issues faced by women in the hollywood industry is both saddening and an eye opener at the same time. Apart from the usual derogatory situations the issues faced by the women in the work environment is also an issue to be concerned about. Typically in the management side, the women are considered to be of less prowess in making people to do work. when a woman clerk is respected and adored, a female boss is always catcalled behind their back and are downgraded even by their colleagues. While the majority of the forwarded society supports women entrepreneurship, are gentle and respects women, the conservative mindsets still exist even though it’s only a very less share.
At the same time we support and reserve for feminism , I believe that it is the duty of women to match the quality of the work they do to that of the Industry standards, The duties and obligations are as important as the rights are.Bragging for equality should be matched with outstanding performances. We need to do understand that an Ideal world doesn’t exist but yet should strive for it. I think enough has been told about how men should work to build an inclusive society for women already, Now its time for women to listen! to act!!
A new day is on the horizon…!!
March 18, 2018 at 22:42 #2340Hello Everyone,
My name is Anuraj Kodakkottil, I am a Master student in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Pisa, Also a young small-scale entrepreneur. The diversity in silicon valley is a very inspiring and thought-provoking concept. Me being a brown Engineer in Europe, I am able to relate myself to this issue. from my 2 years experience in Pisa, I find that The young educated sector of the society, especially in academia, is free from the prejudices and stereotypes regarding races. Yet in a wider public perspective, The brown community is the sector of the society which often goes unnoticed and unaddressed. The ignorance of the cultural diversity, the biased reports in the media, also a little bit of truth 😛 might be the reason for this pre-matured judgements. The first misunderstanding is regarding religion, Around 1 billion people in India are Hindus (which include myself), there are millions of Buddhists, Christians and Muslims in all south Asia combined, but the notion of identifying everyone with a brown skin as Muslims is something which has to be changed first.
The share of the brown community especially in the tech industry is very immense. Even though the ancient image of snake charmers has evolved into computer geeks and technocrats, the community includes a spectrum of people including the CEOs of Google, Microsoft, Mastercard etc. The image of South Asia being an ambassador of human rights violation is a very saddening fact, the expats are embarrassed sometimes with these viewpoints by the natives. The ignorance of the diversity in terms of race, ethnicity, culture and even language is something which has to be addressed soon.It is true that the lack of the effect of Industrial revolution has had a huge impact on the socio-economic environment of this countries, but these do not affect the technical or entrepreneur skills of an individual directly. also, the hardworking immigrant work ethics has helped the Brown community to achieve a respected financial position in the society, but the social position has to be certainly improved. An inclusive society where merit is the only reason for any kind of selection is something which we all has to thrive to make happen!
March 23, 2018 at 10:53 #2366Hi guys! Good Morning!
You may know that open source is an amazing way to have a collaboration among different kind of people. But, what do you know about it?
Connected to this we have also another possibility, that is crowdsourcing.
Here you can find a short article to help you to enter in this topic : https://www.businessnewsdaily.com/4025-what-is-crowdsourcing.html
So, what do you know about crowdsourcing? Which are the benefits in using it? And the problems? How would you try to solve those problems?
Have a nice day!
April 18, 2018 at 21:40 #2498Hi Everyone,
Crowdsourcing seems to be a very Interesting concept, As far as I understand, a lot of current trending entertainment applications like musically, dubsmash etc are promoting crowdsourcing in one way or another. If we think about it, what we are doing here also is technically a type of crowdsourcing. We are sharing our knowledge with each other. In my opinion, crowdsourcing can be more exploited by S&ME’s (Small and medium scale enterprises ) and University spin-offs to collect Investment. There are multiple finance and product based companies like Amway, Smartway etc which are already working on this concept.
If we consider other than the financial aspect, The privacy and data collection can be a very crucial aspect, especially in the scenario where Facebook is in the limelight for all the wrong reasons. There has to be a controlling agency in this case. An agency which can be trusted and is transparent. Even though crowdsourcing is a wonderful idea for easy data and economic collection, the challenges have to be tackled well.
April 24, 2018 at 15:09 #2514Hi,
Wikipedia, being the best example of crowdsourcing should be analyzed more in detail. Even though it is a crowdfunding, the pattern which they request users for contribution is also interesting. I regularly donate a small amount every year to Wikipedia since they email me almost the same time asking for a contribution. Even though I have been using it for at least past 5 years. They have asked me for contribution only when I use it in Italy.Honestly, I didn’t even know that they accepted donations and it is a crowdsourced organization. So I believe that they have a generous approach to raise investments, rather than a capitalist mindset.
<div>I completely agree with the point about the security and privacy issue with crowdsourcing approach since the legal and social responsibilities of social networks and online platforms are not yet sorted out.</div>April 24, 2018 at 15:32 #2515Hi everyone my name is Nicola Trapani, a student of Strategy, Management and Control at faculty of Economy in Pisa. Last week I listened your presentation about Silicon Valley tour. I thougt was very interesting, the trip to discover the world in Silicon Valley that the Ceo told to us, also the experinces about the tour. I was very inspired to the “air” that you breathe in Silicon Valley, which is surronded from the most importants, rivolutionary companies in the world. I knew from your conference the energy of this amazing place, and I wuold like to partecipate to your tour next August. I really like, mostly the experiencies, of students have been done tour last years, and I really focus on when you told about the career who have done after that tour. I very interesting to the chance to make an intership in the future in California.
But now, focus on the last article. I was login in just now so I gonna posted a feedback about above last article. I think, it is very important for the Umanity, considering one of the most important and touching problems of the modern society in the world, that are the hungry, and the conditions of life that too much people suffer in some of part of the world like Bangladesh, El Salvador or Haiti. Many Umanitarian Companies try to looking for a solution about this terrible issues but until now the problems stay alive. I red the article and I was really impressed about this new way to build houses, that would be a great solution to help people that no have one. This is an exemple of tecnology, is a way to figure out Umans problems too. I really surprise because I didn’t kwon since today that is possible build an house whit a simple printer !! cleary that is not too simple but anyway is a Printer ! I found this, a great step forward for the tecnology to the solutions of problems. I hope the company continue to develop this projects and improving the printer to help many people have a house.
April 27, 2018 at 9:46 #2517Hi guys!
It’s nice to see a new face, welcome Nicola!
Thank you for your reply, but I would like to ask you guys to go more in depth about the topics, this forum shouldn’t be: me giving you an article and you, write a “passive” feedback. Search on the web for more articles, develop you point of view and share it with us, make questions for your peers and ask for feedbacks, you should be able to interact by yourself without me feeding you with new articles in order to make you write something. In order to be eligible for the tour you have to show us your abilities!
So here another article that it might help you speaking about crowdsourcing: https://www.thedailymeal.com/eat/mms-new-flavor/042418
Have a nice day! 🙂
April 27, 2018 at 23:01 #2518I was thinking to a simple M&M’S, just like a simple Start-Up, how possible to compare this entity ? Crowndsouricing is corret awnser. We can get in the world a new hashtag #morecrowndsouricing. It is a new way to give the possibility, to create, to improve , to be born. we can get the opportunity to found this just with a simple click on internet, and than we are are online to looking for suorches of crowdsourcing. I think this topic will be a new era of economy development. More website that I saw organized a challenge, and the winner is taking a help from the companies who sponsor this “game”. so i can suggest a simple message #morecrowdsourcing !!

May 7, 2018 at 18:53 #2523Well, It is certainly very relieving that it can also be used for building houses. But unfortunately, the engineering developments behind the 3D printing is not so advanced yet so that we can build houses straight away like that. Also, the term Printing in 3D printing might be a little bit misleading.you should not consider it as merely as a printing method. It is a manufacturing process to be precise ( Even though it’s obvious). But there are multiple areas where we are using 3D printing already. The SpaceX rocket Falcon which is the latest trend in the aerospace Industry has been utilising this technology to their advantage. The Department of Aerospace Engineering at our University is also conducting multiple pieces of research in this field. Materials science Engineering, in my opinion, is in fact on a roll now. There is another interesting type of material called Phase-changing material which is an absolute wonder and has a very wide application domain. This website can give you a basic idea of the technology, It is in very simple terms so that its easy non-science student can understand too. http://microteklabs.com/how-do-pcms-work.html.
May 7, 2018 at 23:16 #2524Dear Andruj, no wonder, engineering developments will be obviusly the future of discoveries that humans cuold do.I wrote your article but i’m a simple student of economy it’is too difficult to understnad for me (ahhah). i’m so sorry, becasue this topic I just can write my impressions, feelings and consideration about the articles. But I’m very happy that you repost me in your comment , and at the same I wrote you suggestion but I need some helps to understand the progress of this invenction. I think like you that engineering developments are very precious for this problem that unfortunatly the word is full.
