    Hello there !

In response to Valerio at regard the innovation and automation economic loss, I am agree with him about taxation of great companies. I also think robot’s work should be taxed. I think that the taxes’ revenues should be invested, in the better way, more and more in education and creativity. History taught us that the technology innovation delete some jobs but, in the same time, new jobs are created. The new technologies are always used in order to increase the production’s efficiency and to decrease the costs. Then human work become useless because it is less efficient and it has higher costs. But one of the consequence of technology innovation is the need of new professional figures that have be able to use the innovations. The people should invest in human capital, in education, in order to get better their intelligence, their skills, their knowledge and their creativity. New spaces are opened by new technologies, where human creativiy is necessary (that can’be substituted by robot), for to use in the better way the inventions. Only with education and formation the technology innovation will become a tool managed by us. Otherwise we will be substituted by machines.

About the 3d printing environmental impact, I’m agree with Nicole and Margherita. Obviously 3d printing still isn’t perfect. I would adjoint that the decrease of costs promotes the buying of the products because the prices are lower than before. Then the consums will increase, the produtction will increase and more energy and  resources will be used. Moreover the processing of raw materials, aimed at making them suitable for three-dimensional printing, can consume more energy than is necessary for the production using traditional production methods.

At regard the last conference i was very impressed by Eugenia and Alice personality. They demonstrate that the women have the potentially and the skill for to become innovative entrpreneur. it’s not a job only for men. I have understood that In order to create a startup and receiving the financements, there are steps that must be passed: questions, video presentation, demo, interview. That is needed for to convince the investitors to finance the project. If one step isn’t passed the whole project fails. I want say that even if there is a good idea of project that could get better the quality life or increase the profits, a little mistake could bring everything down and the future benefits won’t be realized, while projects that are less innovative but more convincing could be financed. Determination, brave and fortune are necessary to build  and doing survive a company.

In response to Margherita about the personalized medicines in European Union, i think it isn’t possible to found a common solution among member countries because it is a national matter and each country has own normative. Until it won’t become at european matter (it means that the EU can apply the same directive or regulations over the member countries), the introduction of personalized medicines in EU will be impossible.

    Have a good night!

    Hello there !

I have two considerations about the last conference with engineer Massimo Della Porta :

    – i’m very happy and surprised that his enterprise has assumpted italian students who have studied in Italy, recognizing their skills and competences, and confirming the quality of italian Universities, even if  the investments in research are decreasing.

    – Della Porta told us that an entrepreneur should have much passion for his job, otherwise the enterprise achives bad results. This is one of the ingredients of a good work environment. Not only the entrepreneur, but also each worker should have passion and the same target of the enterprise.

Regarding the Samsung Galaxy Fold, i think it will be an innovation in short term because it is arriving on the market in this month (in Italy in may)  even if at the beginning only few persons will have money for buying it. Such as other innovations (iphone, mac, etc.) the price will decrease in the middle/long term, and more and more people will buy it. Otherwise they will buy it with installments or financements in the short term. I think it will have success because in the last year many people were attracted and habitued by big screens. I  think the big screan isn’t a real need, but this companies (Samsung, Apple, Huawei) want to create new needs. Before their innovations, no one wanted or thinked at the smartphone with touch screen, camera, internet and big screan.   Steve Jobs said that If we was in the past (before the creation of the car) and we  demanded at the people what they wanted for to travel faster , they probably answered us that they wanted a faster horse. But after the creation of the car all people wanted a car. Car became new need. This is the logic used by these enterprise. They know the market’s needs but their target isn’t only to satisfie them but also create new needs.

About 3d printing I think it will be a revolution in the sectors already cited (surgery and architecture). I think it will have economic and social impact on the jobs. Much human work will be substituted by 3d printing, but it will also create  new kinds of jobs. For example it will be new technicians who will have to  assembly or repair, they will do technical, mechanical or IT assistance. The history teaches us that every industrial revolution has caused these changes.

    Thank you !

    Have a good night !

    Hi everyone!

I’m Domenico and I’m attending a master’s degree program in Economic Development and International Relations at the University of Pavia. I’m 23 years old and i live in Genoa. I would like participate at the svst because i have always been fascinated by technology (computer science, robotics) then i would  see the great realities of these sectors. I think it’s a nice experience that could open minds.

Sorry for the delay of joining you. I read the topics and i would briefly give my opinions. Regarding Musk, i think that he’s wrong because he isn’t a common person. With his announcements he can heavily influence the financial market. This fact don’t concern his word right, his opinions, his ideas, his thoughts. He has given information that he shouldn’t give. About nationalization of the great companies (Facebook, Google, Amazon) i think that is impossible because, as said Giovanni, they are transnational companies and then the Countries should do agreements at regard. But it’s an utopic vision.I’m a little bit afraid of big data because they could be manipulated in order to influence our political or economic decisions and choices. People isn’t conscious, they should take attention when they give their personal information. I think it’s necessary an education about big data. It’s true that we aren’t obliged or forced to give our personal information on social network, but more and more the social relations, the social activities are, partially, conducted on this platforms. For example on socials the university give their announcements, or the enterprises select and assume their employees.Regarding the relation between e-commerce and shopping malls i don’t think that shopping malls will be extinguished. I’m agree with the article when it says that the e-commerce (as Amazon) have need of the shoping malls. Moreover many people like the shopping malls because they can touch with their hands the goods and products.

In response the first question posted by Lorenzo, i think, as already said, that doesn’t exist specific recipe for making happy employees. It depends a lot by work context, kind of job, relation between employer and employees and between employees. For what concerns Google surely there are many young guys passionated. Probably they are paid with the right salary and they have many garancies. Probably they work in good, meritocratic and stimulant work environment and they have good relation one with the other. In few words they have they have an economic, social and psychological stability.

An Italian company that came to my mind is Ferrero. I know it has nothing to do with Google, Amazon and Facebook, because it is a sweet company, but it is an Italian example (perhaps the only one) comparable to Google in terms of its relationship with its employees. In fact, employees are very happy and feel part of a family, have many services and there is equality between men and women. Furthermore, Ferrero is the most attractive choice of employment in Italy. I leave you three articles about it (sorry if the first is in Italian).

    https://www.ferrero.com/group-news/Ferrero-has-been-awarded-the-title-of-most-attractive-Employer

In response the second question I don’t think it is possible to avoid that talented workers go to other companies because they could be attracted by job offers more appropriate to their needs or, in any case, by the possibility of growing, learning and improving their skills. For these reasons, like Giovanni, I think it is right that the most skilled workers move from one job to another after a certain period of time (for example 10 years).

Thank you, have a nice evening!

    Domenico
