    Good evening,

I did the test and I read different opinions about this topic.

The Moral Machine present us many binary options. The choices are different for the type of pedestrian that the car could hit: males or females, children or older people, thin or overweight. The test consider different categories of people: ahomeless, criminals or employed. Often the elements of complexity can be confusing: a group of three overweight criminals who cross the pedestrian crossing with green is “more expendable” than three children who, distracted, are going through red?

At the end of the game a sort of classification is drawn up: from the most “saved” human type to the most “sacrificed” type. The result depends on the different mix of set proposed and this make it clear how difficult it is to extrapolate the general rules that help self-driving to decide without sticking to well-defined cases previously.

The Moral Machine is a very interesting test, especially if we consider the regulatory debate on the laws that will govern the movement of self-driving cars.

In my opinion it is very difficult and dangerous to create a “line” that it is accepted by everyone. The variables to be considered are many and depend on the ethics of each.

What do you think about this guys?

    Good evening guys!

I’m agree with Valentina and I think that only by sharing our ideas can we improve our projects! What better way to make our dreams come true?

Crowdfunding is spreading more and more and it has been present in Italy from only five years but it has already achieved excellent results. Here are some data: in 2017 online equity fundraisers reached 11,586 million euro, almost tripling the results of previous year. For 2018 we speak of over 8,000 million euro.

Since the start of the law the total risk capital collected amounted to 27,391,730.

About the platforms, the top 3 for founds raised and number of projects published from 2013 to today are: CrowdFundMe, Startsup and MamaCrowd.

These results promise an excellent increase. With the advent of internet and digitized payments the types of financing are multiplied and have covered countless fields helping thousands of small companies and startups to become known and grow in the global market.  It is so interesting!

    Let me know!

    Good evening!

Thanks @Sarac for the new topic! Currently about 300milion tons of plastic are produced each year to make bags, bottles, packages, and other commodities for people all over the world. Unfortunately, only about 10% of this plastic is properly recycled and reused. The rest ends up as waste in landfills or as litter in our natural environment, where it leaches dangeours chemicals into the nearby soil and water, endangering humans and wildlife alike.Plastic pollution is not only impacting our waters and marin life, but also the food chain and our overall health.

Regarding Luca’s question,I notice that one of sessions on Precious Plastic’s website is “Bazar”. On this I think that the company can create and lease “containers” for who wants work for this mission. In exchange, the productors have a preferential channel in the company to sell items. Obviously this is an initial ideaon which one could work.

In this way we can see business keeping the goal fixed.

What are your idea? Let me know!

    Good evening!

About Giorgio’s question I think that our actions have determined, with the passage of time, what today we can see: a real and worrying nature’s change. The fault is only ours and we must as soon as possible cooperate for a better world also with the small daily actions.

About Brexit I read last Saturday over half a million people gathered in front of the British Parliament to manifest peacefully against the exit of the UK from the European Union.

In my opinion the British have become aware of the troubling problems and disadvantages resulting from this goodbye. In recent months one of the factors most affected by Brexit effect was certainly the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the UK, which is in sharp decline compared to the pre-Brexit period. I think that without well-defined agreements situation of the country would become even more critical.

    Good morning!

I read an article to reflect on topics covered: Trump vs Google, Facebook and Twitter.

Trump has developed an executive order that would instructs the US antitrust authorities to investigate if any online platform has acted in violation of antitrust laws the aim is to protect competition between online platforms and to face prejudice.

Facebook and Twitter have long been targeted by Conservatives for perceived liberal bias regarding how they moderate their platforms, with Facebook having come under fire two years ago for alleged censoring of right-wing news sources in its trending topics feature, which has since been removed from the site.

Since than, Facebook has often been accused of censoring conservatives on its platform, though any concrete evidence on the practice remains virtually nonexistent.

Once again, he would changes his tack.

    Hi guys!

A few days ago I saw an interesting documentary of VW’s scandal and I was shocked by Donald Trump’s decision to start the process of rolling back carbon pollution standards for vehicles.

Trump has directed the EPA – Environmental Protection Agency – to review fuel efficiency standars that were a key plank of Barack Obama’s effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The move is a victory for carmakers who have claimed the standards are too onerous and out of step with Americans’ car buying habits. Trump unveiled the review at an event in Detroit where he met with executives from companies, including General Motors, Fiat and Ford.

Trump is also mulling whether to withdraw the US from the Paris climate accord and an alliance of 1,000 US companies took out ads in Washington DC publications to urge Trump to stay in the deal and work towards a low-carbon economy.

In my opinion Trump and the automakers are endangering the health of children and families by abolishing lifesaving vehicle emissions protections that cut down on dangerous smog and asthma attacks. In conclusion, I think that the question is related to money at the point of disinterested health issues and Trump remains indifferent to sensitization campaigns.

    Hi everyone!

Today’s meeting was really interesting! I think that an important element of digital transformation is, of course, technology. If businesses want to evolve with the rapid pace of digital change today, they must work to increase efficiency with technology wherever it is possible. For many, that means adopting flexible principles across the business (e.g. automation technologies also help many IT (Information Technology) organizations gain speed and reduce techincal debt) in the digital era, standing still is a death sentence, as Paolo Ferrari says, businesses have to be nimble as priorities shift due to competitive pressures and digital disruption.

Beyond, I agree with @stefanogaravaglia because it is very important keep contact with reality, especially where everything is becaming too technological.

    Good evening!

    Hello everyone!

I’m Matilde Trevisan, I’m 24 years old and I live in a small town in Pavia. I’m attending the last year of Human Resources at the University of Eastern Piedmont. I’m a creative and warm person, my favourite hobby is to bake creative cakes and sweets in general and I hope that one day I’ll open a bakery. I consider myself an honest person and I try to draw the best out of everything. From the age of 17 years I’ve worked in many different places and I have always appreciated to take new challengs and opportunities. In my opinion work is a way to stimulate studies.

SVST 2019 would be an opportunity for me and it is a great and useful chance to come up with new ideas that will be added to my thesis.

Concerning the article, I agree with @sarac when she says that “the intervention by the SEC is founded, because if Elon Musk wanted to make public important informations like these, post a tweet is not the best way, because there are formal ways to disclousure, involving all shareholders”.

It is not the first time that he makes an impulsive decision, so it is time to sit down and reflect before posting on social media.

About Valentina’s post, I think that the “basic income” has more negative aspects, in fact, I agree with @marieanl. It is a real incentive to unemployment and it is olny going to increase poverty: it’s not affordable by the state coffers, it abolishes the welfare, it brings an inevitable increase of government taxes and pushes the people to look for part-time jobs, weakening the power of Collective Contracts of the employees.

I worked at CAF (Centre of Tax Assistance) and I saw many problems linked at the current “Carta REI”, managed by INPS: it is a card (e.g. postpay) useful to pay the bills or pay the rent or to do groceries and it is issued to the people with many requirements, including ISEE (Equivalent Economic Status Indicator) under 6000€ and ISR (Income Satus Indicator) under 3000€ and a lot of people came to me, too angry, because their ISEE was too high!!!

I can’t imagine what might happen if the basic income will be approved, will we be fighting to appear more “poor”?

Of course, this is only my opinion. I’d like to know what everybody thinks about this matter!
