    Hello Guys!

Talking about this platform for public participation in and discussion of the human perspective on machine-made moral decisions Offer your perspective on which moral dilemma outcomes you find acceptable for a self-driving car, create your own dilemma scenarios, and discuss them with others.

People who think about machine ethics make it sound like you can come up with a perfect set of rules for robots, and what we show here with data is that there are no universal rules.

We humans make some mistakes very often. Not only a small mistake like leaving the keys in the fridge, then it is a deadly one like leaving the oven on all day. We tend to be reckless, forgetful, overconfident, easily distracted…and more.

Computers, on the other hand, have purely pragmatic minds. They sense data and react in programmed, calculated ways and solutions.

One of the primary goals for the inventors is provoking debate among the public in my opinion, and especially dialogue among users, manufacturers, insurers, and transport authorities.

The Moral Machine is an interesting test, especially if we consider the regulatory debate on the laws that will govern the movement of self-driving cars.

In a recent poll conducted by the American Automobile Association’s Foundation for Traffic Safety, 78% of respondents said they were afraid of getting into a driverless vehicle, while a survey conducted by the insurance giant AIG shows that 41% of participants do not he wanted to share the road with a driverless vehicle.

The same result is also given by the surveys conducted over the past 2 years by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the marketing company JD Power and Associates. Although companies can invest in the security of these systems, the fear of consumers and their distrust increases, partly due to the mystification of the issues related to artificial intelligence, partly because the same professionals seem not to have convincing answers unique. .

The success of a crowdfunding campaign depends not only on the quality and validity of the project to be funded. Much depends on the affinity between project contents and objectives and potential lenders. For these reasons there are crowdfunding platforms dedicated to specific sectors, ranging from non-profit to digital, from environmental protection to the social world, from food to design, from publishing to sport, art and culture, from scientific research to innovation, to arrive at more generalist platforms or mainly regional and local diffusion.

On the success or failure of a project could affect the model and the rules chosen for the collection and accreditation of donations.

The main models are: donation based (does not provide any reward for the donor who made the donation), reward based (provides a reward, but not monetary, for the donor who made the donation), lending based (allows organizations and companies to give and obtain loans to and from people and companies) and equity based (allows the donor to become a shareholder of the funded and then realized project).

When it comes to crowdfunding, one of the most recent stories that comes to mind is that of Canonical. The British company that develops Ubuntu, one of the most widespread distributions of the Linux operating system, had launched a fundraising campaign on the IndieGoGo portal between July and August. Objective: to reach $ 32 million in funding to build Ubuntu Edge, a mobile phone with Android and Ubuntu together. He did not make it, and he had to give the money back; but, with 12 million reached, it established a new record at the time, emphasizing once again the great potential of crowdfunding, the phenomenon of spontaneous donations “from below” which, although not an absolute novelty – the newspapers, for example , have always launched forms of fundraising during special calamities or to support charitable initiatives – has known a new youth thanks to the Web.

I think that before investing any amount you need to know what you are investing, then much depends on how much you want to invest if it is a sum that you can afford to lose, any type of investment is better to consider first what amount you can risk .

Where to go to find the best customers?

LinkedIn, with an organic and paid strategy? Or rather an offline strategy with persuasive materials (eg a presentation package with a letter that intrigues and argues why to buy, DVDs that demonstrate the use of the product, testimonials, quotes from the media, explanation of the warranty and the method we use) direct to key decision makers on a reliable pre-selected list?

Reviewing everything, I would also check that each content leads to a clear CTA that allows you to call directly or better to book a call with my consultant (seller) through a dynamic and high-interaction questionnaire (those made with Typeform).

The website http://www.starsup.it/ explains a very clear idea of the new frontiers of crowfunding, take a look guys !!

    Hi guys,

    very interesting topic Luca,

in my opinion I think we talked for a long time about the escape of talents, young and future startuppers who saw Silicon Valley as the right school in which to experiment their idea of startup, seeing it as the home of the current big companies.

But I think that Europe can be just as fertile for the birth of new businesses in terms of legislation and funding, but also in terms of human capital: a European entrepreneur has completely different characteristics from an US risk appetite, choice of business or relationship between growth and profit. It is true that the highest number of American startups is concentrated in the tech, while in the old continent the companies populate the traditional sector in a more consistent way, with particular attention to km 0 and the use of nearby resources, available and easily available.

Europe, in all ancient and modern history, has been the home of the greatest civilizations and the greatest innovations, with a greater historicity than the United States, whose known history starts in more modern times. Startups in Europe have more time to be tested and are have the chance to grow slowly, but with solid foundations so that they can bring more consistent results into the future. A question of mentality and approach, therefore.

In Europe the laws are different from country to country and this certainly makes it more difficult for a young entrepreneur to open his company, but obviously once he has passed the exam, the European startupper can tackle everything; US laws, by contrast, are generally fairly uniform in every state and therefore make life easy for budding entrepreneurs. But the European employee is happier than the American one and this is due to the greater protection that European laws provide to employees in the old continent, from lighter working hours to the protection of holidays and permits.

For example, a reality like Germany, thanks to a set of elements that are able to guarantee the success of the company, such as the level of education, infrastructure, transparency, connectivity, the regulatory framework, can be a terrain fertile for new start ups.

In China, time passes faster and even the technological innovations seem to go through a fast lane. Speed is not always the best solution and a more European-style analytical approach could be the key to success.

    Hi everybody, how are you?

Sorry for my absence, but I was in Brussels and I had problems with access to the forum but now I am happy to participate again in the interesting discussions you have proposed.

I want to thank Sara and Luca for the two new topics and assuming that recycling plastic, like any other material (steel, iron, glass), is essential not to pollute our beloved Earth, a machine that allows you to recycle plastic directly at home is a real revolution that allows anyone to do a good deed to save the planet.

In Italy, the Law of 27 December 2017, n. 205, suggests the economic incentives in the form of tax credit for companies, to the extent of 50% of the expenses incurred for the purchase of products and furnishings intended to enrich the public and private heritage, produced starting from “plasmix”, a mixture of heterogeneous plastics included in post-consumer packaging and not recovered as single polymers.

Plastic derives directly from oil, of which it retains good combustion capacity. It is therefore not absurd to imagine an energy recovery solution (lie in waste-to-energy plants) for those plastics that are not currently recyclable and that would otherwise end up in landfills. That said, the truly sustainable future is not combustion, but true recycling and the valorisation of the product obtained.

The solution, as has often happened in history, seems to be in chemistry.

However, chemical recycling has come back to the present day thanks to new process technologies, but above all also to the possibility offered by the so-called feedstock recycling. This process is not a real depolymerization, in the sense that the starting monomers are not obtained, but some intermediate compounds are obtained that can be used as fuels or raw materials for other chemical processes.

As for making it become a type of business, as Stefano said, the network is the starting point. But I also find the business proposal on recycling in general of plastic, and not just of Re Green, very interesting.

“The ReGreen project” starts from the concept of plastic recycling, of domestic use (PET, HDPE) and aluminum, recognizing the citizen of points (virtual money) in the form of discounts / shopping vouchers, that can be spent in a shopping circuit subsidiaries present in the municipal territory. ”

The idea stems from the desire to recover and recycle plastic that is largely lost between landfills and incinerators.

I leave here the link of this interesting company.

    Progetto

Let me know your opinions guys, I leave you with an other, I think, very interesting opportunity as a business in this “Green era” in which we are entering nowadays.

It is about photovoltaic recycling. I’ve found that very interesting.

    Hi guys how are you?

First of all, I would like to thank Eunice for the new idea regarding data protection and the fine against Google and its methods for consolidating the domain of its search engine.

The EU Commission had already imposed a fine of € 2.42 billion on Google because it abused its dominant position in search engines, giving an illegal advantage to its shopping comparison service. But the new fine for Google by the EU Commission was the highest ever imposed. The search engine, which has managed to dodge the Brussels charges, will have to pay 4.3 billion euros for abusing the dominant position of its Android operating system. In 2016 Google was formally accused of having forced smartphone makers, such as Samsung or Huawei, to pre-install Google Search and set it as a default or exclusive search app. Google has offered financial incentives to manufacturers and mobile network operators as long as they only install Google Search on their devices.

However, as far as data protection and Android and IOS systems are concerned, I can tell you about my experience.

I’ve had and still have both Android and IOS devices, and although IOS is more intuitive and its policy of sharing everything easily only between Apple devices is comfortable and that you create a sort of Club, I would choose Android and I’ll explain why .

An Android device is much easier to customize, there are also many free apps that allow you to create a phone or a tablet really yours. I also find the “share” function of Android very important, in practice since it can share everything with everyone, starting from word files to power point presentations to images and even entire apps. The maps give not only directions about the route but also about traffic, connections to public transport, everything through Google Now, based on your location. In addition with the expandable memory and a cloud (even if paid to enlarge its capacity) I find it easier to transfer documents, files, and much more to pen drives.

True, however, is that the Android system does not enjoy great security and protection of the system and data: compared to a device with IOS system is easier to encounter viruses and this can do para, but the new devices on Google Play allow you to download some apps for control and protection of sensitive data and not only (although there are fake app of this type), so like real Antivirus. In addition, the new operating systems allow you to have a “Private Part” where you can place restrictions on each field and on the access of each app.

In fact, the databases for storing user data of thousands of applications for Android and iOS, managed through the Google Firebase cloud platform, are not properly protected, exposing over 100 million records of data to prying eyes. We must also pay attention to those absolutely legitimate apps but published by developers so “distracted”, who “forget” to use the necessary security measures to prevent any possible attack or intrusion.

We should therefore always consider the opportunity to encrypt files and data shared over the Internet.

    Good evening everyone!!

I completely agree with both the ideas of Benedetta and Eunice, about the leak of security and safety in social networks and the problems with our private data due to it.

I’d like to share with you a very interesting new Police Organism created 2 years ago in Novara that tries to resolve, prevent, sensibilize , dissuade and sanction behaviors of mistreatment and violence on gender or minors, but also vandalism and condominium conflicts.

Promotion and training in city schools (or where required) through the organization of educational and training meetings “As already happens at the request of institutions, teachers and even groups of young people”.

Social networks are certainly very useful tools but it is necessary to know how to use them and above all to know all the pitfalls. Especially when it comes to minors. There are hundreds of millions of users on platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and you never know for sure who hides behind the profile.

Moreover, there’s the Dark Web, the dark side of the Web.

Reading the article shared by Luca,

I was terribly impressed by how easy it is to get sensitive data from anyone and sell them for the cost of a coffee, for a turnover of $ 600 million, all in untraceable cryptocurrencies. Data come from credit cards and current accounts, photos, images, videos that we want to share with the social and other people.

All this must lead us to the idea of prevention, or better, the culture of prevention, as written in the article shared by Eunice, “Every attack leaves digital traces, just as it happens on any other crime scene”. The analysis of these traces allows you to put in place appropriate countermeasures.

On June 19, 2017, the Council of the European Union adopted the “Cyber Diplomacy Toolbox” which, once approved, will be able to coordinate the activities of the “Cyber Diplomacy Toolbox”. Response from the EU Member States in the event of cyber attacks. This Framework also provides for the possibility for States, including any forms of response, that if under attack, can exercise their “inherent right of individual or collective self-defense”.

These challenges are extremely important. The possibility that we can react with the armed force to a cyberattack seems to be increasingly concrete as a response to the continued tensions at the international level that see an ever-increasing use of cyberspace as an offensive means.

There are several categories of threats that can affect states and in doctrine are distinguished according to the impact they have and the objectives they pursue: Hacktivism, Cybercriminality, Cyberspionage, Cyberterrorism, Cyberwar are the main examples. The cyber war, given the relevance of information systems on the country system today, some authors believe that it must be compared to the other three forms of war that traditionally make up the subject as the terrestrial war, the maritime war and the air war.

What do you guys think about it?

    Hi guys !!

Thanks for the new topic !

This summer I worked on environmental sustainability in NYC with the Brazilian ambassador to the United Nations, where an agreement was signed, called “Agenda 2030”. In this protocol there are 17 Sustainable Development Goals that the countries that have joined the commit have to achieve in view of climate change by 2030. I will explain what it is and how and how much the US led by Trump is fundamental in achieving these goals.

The Paris Agreement on climate change officially entered into force on 4 November 2016, after 55 countries accounting for 55 per cent of the total global greenhouse gas emissions, deposited their instruments of ratification, acceptance or approval with the UN Secretary-General.

As of 28 September 2017, 166 countries have joined the Paris Agreement.

The real action is happening at the country level, or even at the city or local level. It is there that governments and businesses are working to reduce their carbon emissions and to build climate resilience. The movement toward greater action is gaining momentum. At the international level, there is still the need to continue the maintain the momentum toward universal ratification of the agreement, as well as the adoption of rules to guide the implementation of the Agreement. The Paris Agreement helps us to avoid locking in a level of ambition that would make the well below 2 degrees goal improbable. In 2018 countries will have an opportunity to review their collective effort against the global goals prior to formally submitting their national contributions to the new agreement. This exercise will be repeated every five years.

The world has warmed before, but never this quickly, and it is due in large part to human activities. For instance, the changes in the Arctic between just six years ago and now are shocking.  People in most parts of the world are seeing and feeling the impacts. We can limit global temperature rise to less than 2 degrees if we take action now. We need all countries and all sectors of society to act now—it is in the interests of everyone.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which crafted the clean power plan, is now seeking to undo much of its previous work with a Trump administration alternative, called the affordable clean energy rule.

The new EPA policy has no national emissions reduction target and barely mentions climate change. It will recommend a set of technologies to increase power plant efficiency, which individual states will then use to come up with plans of their own choosing. The EPA says should all states adopt these new efficiencies – it’s unlikely all will – emissions will go down by around 1% by 2030. Coal’s share of the energy market will grow slightly. The EPA, under the Trump administration, argues its previous work is costly and unlawful, a position held by a coalition of states that sued the agency to stop the clean power plan.

The US is the world’s second largest emitter of greenhouse gas emissions and, under Trump, has vowed to step away from the Paris deal and tear up various climate-related regulations. If the country doesn’t force down its planet-warming gases coming from power plants, vehicles, agriculture and other sources, the world is far more likely to careen into a challenging new climate marked by severe heatwaves, storms, flooding and displacement of millions of people.

Here you are an article in Italian describing the risks of climate change. Let me know your opinions !!

Hello to all you guys !!

To begin with I want to say that I absolutely agree with Stefano: today ‘s conference showed us different stimulating and interesting realities.

I found Leonardi’s motivation and passion particularly relevant, as we talked about topics related to new technologies and its various uses, starting from automation to training for employees.

It is not expected every day that a dairy industry has invested so much in technology and development, as you can think of companies on the “field” like Samsung.

The changement is not just about the future of manufacturing companies but also how to implement new industrial processes.

So the topic of new factories is much more than just a technological problem: it is (or should be) a priority for the entire ruling class of our country.

    Change is a challenge.

it is difficult to make people of different ages communicate. It is probably even more complex to integrate machines designed with very different logics, worn out and not always “gratified” by adequate maintenance.

Following Samsung ‘s manager Bosso and his statement on “The man who has to control technology and not vice versa”, new technologies accentuate the competition between people and machines used in new production processes and we need to find a right “hybridization” between past and present.

The interaction between man and machine, in my opinion, must be the real challenge of the digital transformation, as  a world benefit.

New technologies are certainly a help, a revolution and a great opportunity, but we must know how to make the most of it, without making it prevail over us.

I’ve found something interesting concerning digital transformations in companies 4.0.

    Hello everyone !!

First of all, I have to notice that you have very intersting points of view on this topic and I really enjoy to share with you some ideas.

In my opinion, Tesla remains nowadays still a very important and one-off the « first range » company in the automotive sector, both for the innovative ideas and for the objectives that caracterizes the company policy.

I’ve found some informations about this topic and I’ve noticed that it’s not the first time for Tesla to be changed in its governance.

The agreement marks the beginning of a new era of corporate governance for Tesla, an option already suggested by some shareholders who over time had claimed that the company was too dependent on Musk and his closest collaborators, including Musk’s brother.

Already in 2017, Tesla had diversified its board by adding James Rupert Murdoch, CEO of Twenty-First Century Fox Inc., and Linda Johnson Rice, Chairman and CEO of Johnson Publishing Company.

As for Tesla, the SEC explains that although the company had informed the market in 2013 that it intended to use Musk’s Twitter account as a means of announcing material information on Tesla, the company has never set up controls or procedures on the accuracy of Musk’s tweets.

Musk will retain the role of CEO (CEO) of the company, but he will be replaced by an independent president and can not be re-elected in that role for three years. Tesla will have to appoint a total of two new independent directors for his board and creates a new committee of independent directors and prepares further controls and procedures to oversee Musk’s communications.

“ New is always better” ?!

In my opinion, in this case, we can find that Tesla is a flexible company and the high level of the managers leaves it in good hands.

    Hi guys!!

I’ve been following Tesla’s head, Elon Musk for many years, as I’m a really fond of automotive fields. I can tell you, a part from the reading of the article, it’s that his ideas are totally helpful for 2 reasons: innovation and way of thinking.

Nowadays Tesla is not living a good time, the requests for the Model 3 are not enough and the costs for doing it are too expensive and we all know that if the costs are more than the revenues in a short time you’ll disappear. So this is a reason, I think, for what Musk has done and probably the reason why he thought that Tesla should delisted from Wall Street.

So, in my opinion, the post that Musk wrote on last August 7th without telling anyone his intentions was a real signal that he was desperate. I don’t agree with him about this solution, but I can understand him in the way that Tesla is like a son for him.

SEC has done a good work because Musk’s attitude was over the laws and the shareholders must be protected. Networks and Social medias are positive to share good ideas, but in a company such as Tesla the discussions about company future must stay in a room and the shareholder’s will must be followed.
